A Statement from Oceanstate Wine & Spirits
June 15, 2020
Oceanstate Wine & Spirits is aware of the statements made by Dave Andelman and the reaction to it from our community. We do not share the views stated, we are aware of the subsequent apology, and we are waiting to hear more.
The owners and employees of Oceanstate live in the communities that we serve. We are committed to listening to what others have to say, to working together towards common good, and to living together in the neighborhoods and communities we serve. Communities are comprised of individuals with equal rights and we support the ability to protest which is a fundamental right of all citizens. We support the Black Lives Matter movement, and the principles that it was created upon, and we support all efforts to create positive change for our country.
Oceanstate Wine & Spirits has paused advertising while we review this matter.

Last week the world witnessed the tragic death of George Floyd, a man whose life was tragically taken away too soon. This should not have happened in the past, we witness it happening today, and it cannot happen going forward.
Oceanstate is an anti-racism organization and has always stood for the ideals of equality, understanding, and mutual respect. Oceanstate must be an organization where all employees regardless of race or the color of their skin know that they are valued. We acknowledge that racism can be subtle or explicit, unintentional or premeditated, and that we all must challenge ourselves to understand and correct inequities we may discover with purpose. Being an anti-racism organization is a journey. It is the learning and improvement along the way that makes us better and is what is needed from all of us.
